Administrative Support
Assist with office tasks. Perfect for organized individuals who enjoy behind-the-scenes work. Tasks may include:
- Data entry and filing
- Event prep
- Mailings
Erie City Mission Thrift
Support the sale of donated goods where all proceeds go back to the mission. Tasks may include:
- Sorting donations
- Organizing merchandise
- Assisting customers
Learning Center
Support adults in our New Life Program with the opportunity to learn and grow.
- Instruct a class or course on various life skills or educational topics
- Assist in fostering a learning environment
New Life Program
Encourage and support up to 38 men and 14 women in our long-term comprehensive residential recovery program
- Mentorship
- Teach a course
- Offer rides to appointments or church
Public Meal Program
The kitchen cannot serve nutritious meals to those in need without the support of volunteers. Tasks include preparing, cooking and serving meals to the general public. Kitchen service shifts include:
- Breakfast: Daily 6:30-8:30 a.m.
- Lunch: Daily 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Dinner: Available upon request.
*Must be 16 or older to volunteer in the kitchen.
Street Outreach
Meet the urgent needs of our chronically homeless neighbors. Help us build trust and long term relationships with people that do not have stable housing.
- Take supplies to encampments
Emergency Weather Center
Meet the urgent needs of our chronically homeless neighbors. Help us build trust and long term relationships with people that do not have stable housing.
- Facilitate emergency shelter during extreme weather situations that could put lives in danger
Samaritan Care Emergency Men's Shelter
Engage with up to 56 men who are experiencing homelessness.
- Provide activity or conversation to folks in the dayroom.
Spiritual Life
Sharing the Gospel with the poor is a calling that Jesus repeats. Help us host a daily chapel service or regular bible studies.
- Lead a small group bible study
- Share a brief devotional during our daily chapel
- Disciple men or women in the New Life Program
- Support Celebrate Recovery at the Erie City Mission
Urban University
Mentors come alongside students as positive role models to build intentional relationships, offer encouragement and wisdom, and support UU educational experiences.
